Powder Brows is a Permanent Makeup Technique that gives a soft, shaded look similar to an eyebrow powder or pencil once healed. It is ideal for busy individuals who want to cut precious time from their makeup routine. You will no longer need to spend time meticulously filling in your eyebrows in the morning or need to worry about your brow makeup coming off in the pool, in the gym or on holiday.

Every client is unique, every set of eyebrows is unique. It is recommended to have a consultation prior to your treatment, where your brow artist will not only check for medical conditions that would exempt you from treatment but to discuss your goals and expectations from the treatment.

Don’t let the name Permanent Makeup frighten you, Powder Brows are designed to fade over the years to ensure you have the ability to adjust your shape and colour etc as you age. No one wants to be stuck with the same brows for 20+ years! Once you have had your Powder Brows procedure you will be required to return every 1-2 years for a Colour Boost session to refresh the brows.

POWDER BROWS

A full Powder Brows procedure takes 2 sessions roughly 4-6 weeks apart. At your first session your brows will be ‘mapped’ to create your new shape. Your brow artist will work with you making adjustments as needed. The first session can take up to 2 and a half hours but this will depend entirely on how much time is needed to create your shape. For example if you have uneven brows or particularly difficult brows more time will be spent on creating your shape. You will be numbed during your treatment for your comfort. Most clients fall asleep!

Immediately after your first session your brows will look darker, thicker and more dramatic. They will continue to darken for the first 3 days before they start to fade as they heal. They will fade up to 50% in the 4-6 weeks following your first session. You will then have your second session. This second session is essential to ‘lock in’ your new brows. Once your 2 treatments are completed you will only need to visit every 1-2 years for a Colour Boost to keep your brows looking fresh. Never forget that permanent makeup is an art more than an exact science, so results can vary from person to person due to their age, cellular regeneration capabilities and lifestyle. Some clients may need to return for a third session 4-6 weeks after their second session. It is rare but it can happen so it is something to be aware of.

CoNTRAINDICATIONS

Unlike Microblading, Powder Brows is suitable for any skin type, skin tone and age but there are a number of contraindications to the treatment, this means if you have any of the conditions listed you may not be able to have the treatment, or may require a letter from your doctor to proceed.

  • Taking Accutane

  • Keloid scarring

  • Pacemaker or major heart problems

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • Epilepsy

  • Autoimmune disease

  • Botox/Filler within the past 4 weeks

  • Eye Disorders

  • Lupus

  • Herpes simplex (coldsores)

  • Individuals with thyroid condition

  • Psoriasis or Eczema around brows

  • Undergoing cancer treatment

  • Diabetes type 1

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Blood thinning medication

  • Bleeding disorders

  • Compromised immune system

Immediately after the treatment your brows will look darker and will look thicker due to swelling. This is unavoidable and is something you need to be prepared for. THEY WILL SOFTEN but you must be patient during the healing process.

For the first week after your treatment your eyebrows may become dry, itchy and start scabbing. It is so important that you do not scratch or pick at the scabbing. You will remove pigment and cause patchiness and scarring. Trust the process. Once the scabbing has sloughed off itself, the pigment will look like it has disappeared underneath but it takes a few weeks for the pigment to stabilise, it will return by the 4th week. This is when you will have your second session.

All clients are given my personal phone number following their treatment to text or Whatsapp me photos or any questions/concerns they may have during the healing period.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT

pre care

To ensure the best results there are some things you can do prior to your Powder Brows appointment:

  • If you have a lot of excess regrowth, have your brows waxed/threaded 7 days prior to your appointment to ensure the best finish.

  • If you normally tint your brows, have them tinted 7 days prior to your appointment so your brow artist can colour match you perfectly.

  • If you have a particular ‘vision’ for your brows please feel free to prepare some example photos of brows you like. While not all results will be achievable it is a good starting point for your brow artist to understand what thickness, colour and shape you would like.

  • For 24 hours prior to your appointment you must avoid the following: caffeine, alcohol, ibuprofen, aspirin and other blood thinning medicaitons. All of these can cause excess bleeding during the treatment which will push out any pigment we are trying to implant, you will not get the best results and may need extra sessions.

aftercare

Aftercare is very important following a permanent makeup procedure. It is the key to getting the results you want. I can only perform the treatment, once you leave it is up to you to ensure results by following aftercare to a T.
